The EFX5-381 Advantage

Modular Battery Design
The EFX5-381 runs on a modular 80V lithium system that takes one or two 280Ah packs. Start with a single pack for single-shift work and add the second when demand grows — the same truck scales from a standard day to round-the-clock operation without a battery room or a spare machine.

Diesel-Class Performance, Zero Emissions
3800kg at a 500mm load centre, 15-16km/h travel speed, 0.43-0.52m/s lifting and 20% gradeability. With solid tyres and 150mm ground clearance under the wheelbase, the EFX5-381 handles loaded ramps, rough hardstand and outdoor yards where lighter electric trucks struggle.

Built for Long Shifts
A high-visibility mast, adjustable suspension seat, wide brake pedal, LED work lighting and a large multifunction display keep the operator comfortable and confident. Everything sits where you expect it, so fatigue stays low across a full day of heavy handling.
About EFX5-381
The EFX5 series is EP's new-generation electric counterbalance range covering 2.5 to 3.8 tonnes, and the EFX5-381 sits at the top of it. It pairs EP's lithium-ion drivetrain with an IC-style chassis, so it keeps the ruggedness operators expect from a diesel truck while removing the fuel, the servicing and the exhaust.
At 3865mm overall and 1250mm wide it is only marginally larger than the 3.5-tonne EFX5-351, so the extra 300kg of capacity costs almost nothing in manoeuvrability — the turning radius grows by just 26mm.
Specification Highlights
Standard build is an 80V/280Ah lithium system with a 4.5m triplex free-lift mast, solid tyres and 1070mm tynes, and mast options run from a 3000mm duplex to a 6000mm triplex. Three-phase external charging is available at 60A, 100A or 200A, and side-shift and fork-positioner attachments can be fitted from the factory.
Application
Suited to heavy manufacturing, timber and steel yards, transport depots, recycling and any operation moving 3 to 3.8 tonne loads across a mix of indoor and outdoor surfaces. It is a direct replacement for a 3.5 to 4 tonne diesel counterbalance, with the running costs and emissions of an electric.
Key Highlights
Flagship of the EFX5 Range
At 3800kg the EFX5-381 is the highest-capacity truck in the EFX5 series, built as a direct replacement for a 3.5 to 4 tonne diesel counterbalance.
Modular 80V/280Ah Lithium
Runs one or two 280Ah packs. Start on a single pack for one shift a day and add the second as demand grows — no battery room, no spare truck, no watering.
Solid Tyres & 150mm Clearance
Solid tyres come as standard and 150mm of clearance at the wheelbase keeps the truck stable on rough hardstand, loaded ramps and outdoor yards.
Diesel-Class Output
15-16km/h travel, 0.43-0.52m/s lifting and 20% gradeability unladen — IC-grade throughput with none of the fuel, servicing or exhaust.
300kg More, 26mm Wider Turn
Only 46mm longer and 20mm wider than the 3.5t EFX5-351, so the extra capacity costs almost nothing in aisle width or turning circle.
Built for Multi-Shift Days
High-visibility mast, adjustable suspension seat, wide brake pedal, LED work lights and a large multifunction display keep fatigue low over a full day.

Frequently Asked Questions
EP Equipment utilizes Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) cell technology, which is engineered to deliver upwards of 4,000 charge cycles. Paired with our proprietary Battery Management System (BMS) that actively prevents overcharging and deep discharging, the battery typically lasts the entire operational lifecycle of the forklift without power degradation.
Lead-acid batteries require a strict 8-hour charge followed by an 8-hour cooling period and suffer from 'memory effect'. In contrast, EP's lithium-ion batteries support opportunity charging—allowing operators to plug in the equipment during 15-minute coffee breaks or shift changes. This eliminates the need for spare batteries and dedicated charging rooms, enabling seamless 24/7 operation.
Lithium-ion battery removes the daily and weekly maintenance burdens associated with traditional power sources. There is zero battery watering, no acid equalization, no engine oil changes, and no filter replacements. Maintenance is strictly reduced to routine mechanical inspections (such as brakes, tires, and mast lubrication).
Absolutely. EP strictly utilizes LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) chemistry, which is fundamentally more thermally stable than NMC chemistries used in consumer electronics. Our battery packs emit zero harmful gases during operation or charging, making them perfectly safe for enclosed, unventilated indoor spaces.
Many EP models are equipped with advanced Telematics. This system provides fleet managers with real-time data on truck location, operational hours, battery health diagnostics, and impact reports. It also supports RFID card access, ensuring only authorized personnel can operate the equipment.
